Get Involved - What for?
Mood:  bright

Anywhere you are, you are governed. It is not really our choice to be in this planet, is it not? Neither was it our choice to be inside a "government". Nevertheless, your voice counts a lot. Yet, there is no need to yell or curse in the dark. A single vote changes your destiny. Your vote will find its way to be the most precious commodity any candidate in a presidential contest would like to have. Every vote counts.

Thus, the governed is the master of the governor. The aspiring "governor" needs the governed to vote for him or her. As all votes gather to be counted, the balance of power tilts in favor of the voters like a rushing tide of the ocean filtering the sand below. When it is over, the quiet of the sea is restored and the ocean remains powerful as ever even in serenity.

To be uninvolved, on the other hand, is like the whirlpool in the sea that tries to dig in deeper and deeper avoiding to be swayed by natural forces of concerted waves reigning supreme above the waters. The efforts of the whirlpool always end fruitless and creates fewer ripples unlike the waves that splash on the shores.

A president is one who is and will be the beacon light. One who directs, protects and shields the people from risks on life, rights and property. The elections come and go. Days move fast and soon, the day has come for decision. If you stay home and veer away, you stay in the dark. But, if you go out and vote, you will follow the light and be counted among those who persevere.

In the meantime, there is so much to do. Organize a group whose members share your dreams and aspirations for yourself and your loved ones. Read and listen well as to how each candidate behaves in and out of the cameras. Find out what other people say about the candidates. Make your own list of priorities if you were to be the president. Compare and contrast your list with the list of priorities the candidates have written or have been campaigning for. Encourage your group members to campaign for the candidates your group has selected. Remove the one-party mentality and choose individually your candidates - president and vice president, senators and representatives,. even if they are from different political persuasions.

In the finaly analysis, your choice is your voice. If your candidate did not win, you should be proud to have been part of the electoral process. If your candidate wins, you should be humble to know that there is more work to do after elections - to monitor your new president's moves and actuations during his or her term. Therefore, getting involved does not end in voting but it is the start of being an instrument of peace. Without your involvement, your dreams and aspirations for yourself and your loved ones may get nowhere. This is the time to be involved NOW.
